Mirna Galeano was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and raised primarily in New York. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Marketing from Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.  She began her career as a 4th grade classroom teacher for newcomers teaching Reading and Writing in English and Math & Science in Spanish while completing her Masters Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Bilingual Education.  

In 2006, she and her family relocated from New York to McLean, Virginia. She taught 1st grade and 5th grade at Kent Gardens Elementary School. In 2016, she became the Assistant Principal at Westgate Elementary School in the Tysons Corner area of Fairfax County.  In her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
