At Bailey's, we believe that technology is a tool that supports our students in developing 21st-century skills like collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. Classrooms are outfitted with laptops, iPads, smart document cameras, and Smartboards. Additional equipment like Dash & Dot Robots, iPads, laptop carts, and Osmos are available for teachers and students upon checkout. Students use technology daily in the classroom and visit Bailey's Technology Lab for special projects.
Students use a variety of software to support their learning. Bailey's subscribes to Dreambox, an adaptive math software that personalizes instruction for each student. Students use an online publishing program called Wixie that allows them to create videos, booklets, and trading cards by adding their writing, voice, and art to projects. Bailey's students have access to many eBooks in programs like myON, Tumblebooks, and PebbleGo. For a list of usernames and passwords to each of these programs, contact your child's teacher.
Students are permitted to "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD). Students should bring their device to Sara Quesenbery (email@example.com) in the Technology Office and she will connect the device to FCPS wifi. Note: all devices connected to FCPS wifi require that we set up a pin to secure the device. Read more about BYOD here.
All 2nd grade students will participate in two 3D printing lessons and create a 3D printed project throughout the 2018-2019 school year.
